The fact is, we need restrictions on AI; the question is how and when. The dilemma is whether or not we should let Artificial Intelligence run free and develop to its full potential, or limit its capabilities and place regulations on it. The way I see it, it’s a complex issue, but we need to find a way to regulate AI, and we need to do it soon.
According to The Michigan Daily, “While it’s easy to dismiss the notion that regulation would have a significant impact on research and development, the lethargic pace of AI research in Europe is a prime example of the drastic consequences America could face if it introduces red tape at this stage.”
The unknown is the most frightening part. So at the end of the day, eventually we will need some sort of restrictions on AI. However; right now technology is rapidly developing and we do not want to fall behind other nations. We have to take this all into consideration, and there is no simple answer to this ongoing debate. So maybe regulating for now means with the exception of the military.

According to National University, “By 2030, 30% of current U.S. jobs could be fully automated, while 60% will see significant task-level changes due to AI integration.”
This is just one of the rapidly expanding problems with AI, and there are so many more to consider. At the end of the day, Artificial intelligence will end up taking jobs from the market, and you will be the one suffering the consequences. Anything that goes unregulated has the potential to become a rampant virus, we must prevent this from happening.
