Chiefs Kingdom

The Chiefs are not my number one team (let’s go Chicago), but they are my number two. So I had to cheer for them when they played the Patriots, who I despise almost as much as the Packers. The Chiefs had a great comeback, starting the second half down 27-21.

As I watched the game, I saw how the rookie running back, Kareem Hunt, fumbled his first carry of his NFL career. I don’t know if I was the only one who was highly disappointed, but I feel like I wasn’t. I started yelling and thinking “Great. We picked up a rookie who can’t even carry the ball.” But he proved me wrong for sure. He ended the game with 246 yards, the most any rookie has ever gotten in the first week and scored three touchdowns, helping the Chiefs win 42-27.

Not only did Hunt do well, so did wide receiver Tyreek Hill, with 7 receptions, 138 yards total and one touchdown. The two season veteran with Hunt and quarterback Alex Smith should prove to be a deadly trio for the Chiefs.

As good as the game was, I was scared and frustrated when safety Eric Berry, who three seasons ago was diagnosed with cancer, ruptured his achilles and is out for the rest of the season. It blows my mind how quick a star player who’s been guarding one of the best tight ends in the NFL, can go from greatness to being out for the rest of the season. But Daniel Sorensen, the backup for Berry, will be starting. Every game he’s played in, he’s been a great addition to the Chiefs backfield.

With a win over the 2016-2017 worlds best football team, I have no doubt that the Chiefs will do well this year. And we might actually get to see the Chiefs play in a conference final.
