At approximately 7:50 am, a school-wide power outage occurred at Liberty High School. As of 8:32 am, the power has been restored.

Students were instructed to report to their first hour class, and were guided through the darkened hallways via alternative lighting systems. Classes were still underway as students and teachers attempted to illuminate their classrooms via laptops, flashlights and cell phones.

Many seniors recalled the LHS power outage from October 2012. Back then, the school day carried on after almost an hour and a half without lights; much like back then, it was beginning to look like us BlueJays will carry on.

According to Assistant Principal Brett Coffman during an interview with Editor-in-Chief Aly Copp at about 8:15, we could have at least expected to continue our school day up until about 11 AM due to the fact that the buses have other routes to take, and would be unable to return to LHS until about that time.

At 8:29 am, Principal April Adams made a statement to the entire student body, relaying that power would be out until further notice from KCP&L.

At 8:32 AM, power was restored throughout Liberty High School. With many heartfelt sighs and groans from students, BlueJays are trudging on for their first day back from Thanksgiving Break.
