On March 25, nearly half the school lined the hallways for the Student Council’s quadrennial Lip Dub performance. The event was created in 2014 by teachers Marla Badalucco and Megan Laws, who wanted to build a community and connect with students in a different way.

“It’s a great way to show school spirit and highlight how much students enjoy being at LHS,” Student Council (STUCO) Advisor Kara Geisert said.
The lip dub was started twelve years ago when this type of lip-syncing video became popular. Schools began creating their own versions, and Liberty High School adopted the idea. It’s a tradition completed every four years, so every student can participate in one.
“The gym was packed, and it was exciting to see that energy,” Geisert said.

It took many students to get the day organized. STUCO researched previous videos and tried to think of ways to improve them. The Senior Class, Leadership students and STUCO began planning in mid-Feb and continued throughout the month of March.
“I hope it continues. The next one will mark about 20 years of the tradition. It’s a great time capsule that people can revisit on YouTube,” Geisert said.
To watch the lip dub video, go to the Liberty Public Schools’ YouTube channel or go to lps.lhs.com. This year’s lip dub was unveiled on the KLHS telethon on Thurs, April 23.
