Would You Like Some Cotton Candy With That?

Would You Like Some Cotton Candy With That?

by MacKenzie Sackett |

Going to movies on the weekend has pretty much been my life for the past five or so years. I have been completely obsessed with movies for as long as I can remember and when a new movie that I am interested in comes out, I get really excited. So when I got hired at B&B Liberty Cinema 12 in March, I was ecstatic to be working for a company that I have been seeing movies at for years and not to mention, getting to see movies for free.

There are many factors to why B&B is a better theater than Northglen. First of all, tickets are cheaper. For an adult ticket it is $8.75. At Northglen it is $10.00 for an adult. Northglen’s prices are just down right ridiculous. Not to mention, to see a 3D movie, it is $13.50 for an adult. B&B has a convenient price to see 3D movies at $11.75 for adults. B&B also has a student discount price of $8.00 for high school and college students, which Northglen does not have.

Also B&B by far has better concessions than Northglen. For one thing, we have more options. We have over 20 varieties of candy, nachos, cotton candy, ice cream and of course, ICEE’s. We also have over 10 types of seasonings that you can put on your popcorn for free. At Northglen, you have to pay for the seasonings which is stupid because you already pay for your popcorn.

In my two months at working at B&B, I have taken notice to what type of people come to see movies at our theater. B&B is definitely a family movie theater. Friday nights are filled with teenagers but throughout the weekend, it is filled with parents bringing children to see the newest animated movie. At B&B we also hold birthday parties for kids in a huge room where children have cake and open presents and afterwards take a tour of our projection room before heading off to see a movie.

B&B first opened in Liberty in 1996 and is still going strong. Although Northglen is a nicer and newer theater, it just does not have that homely environment that B&B has. B&B has a classic, old time movie theater feel to it. Although we have a lot of customers during the weekend, it is never too crowded. When I go see a movie at Northglen, if you do not show up 20 minutes before your movie starts, you end up having to sit in the front row because the auditorium is so crowded. The auditorium at B&B is older yet comfy, cozy and it makes you feel like you’re right at home.

B&B is obviously my first choice to go see a movie because of its convenient prices, more snack options, and comfy environment. Before Northglen opened seven years ago, B&B was the only theater option Liberty’s residents had for years. To me it is the perfect theater and everyone should come see movies at B&B and see for themselves why it is the best theater.
