Liberty continues their unbeaten streak in a 22-5 win over United on Saturday morning, April 27, at Liberty High School football field.
The Jays (3-3-1) kept themselves in the opponent’s half for most of the game, defeating their rivals made up of students from both the Park Hill school District and from Liberty North.
“Going into the game, our coach came up to us and said, ‘This is the game we want to win,’” senior Zayden Smith said.
Halfway through the game, a player from United lost control of his emotions and attempted to land a punch on the ref leading to an immediate stop of the game. Play resumed after the former United player was ejected and now will be ineligible to play for two years.
Heading into this match, the team was focused on keeping their composure as they knew this game would get rough, despite their preparation, they couldn’t have prepared for the game to take a violent turn.
Head Coach Tracey Davies wasn’t worried about the score and was pleased with how the team played. “The team knew exactly what the plan was and they took care of each other and attacked very well,” Davies said.
