Royal Outlook

Homecoming brings a lot of traditions but the most anticipated one is the announcement of the King and Queen. The 2016 King and Queen are seniors Clayton Adams and Olivia Book.

Adams is on the varsity baseball team while Book is very involved in KLHS where she can usually be found co-anchoring.

The King and Queen were very shocked when they found that they were the top ten nominees for the crowns, let alone to be the new owners of them.

“It feels so cool to be Queen,” Book said. “It didn’t hit me for the first 20 minutes honestly.”

Despite their success, neither one of the seniors campaigned for the votes. Neither did any of their friends.

“Nobody really campaigned for me to gain votes,” Adams said. “At least that I know of.”

Although they didn’t advocate to get their name out there to voters they still both had a strong support group.

“I think my family and friends were freaking out more than I was,” Book said. “My friends came running towards me after I won screaming and knocked off my crown because they were hugging me so hard.”

Overall, the candidates were very excited and humbled to become LHS “royalty.”

“It definitely wasn’t something I thought would actually happen,” Book said. “It’s something you always watch and think about when you’re younger and it was really fun to be able to experience it all.”
