A Final Change: Signing Yearbooks

A+Final+Change%3A+Signing+Yearbooks

by Nick Herndon |

This school year marked a year of change in Liberty. With the opening of new schools, the implementation of the I.D. policy, and even the opening of The Nest, Liberty has modified itself in big ways. But do not get too comfortable yet; there is one more tradition that is subject to change.

“The yearbook signing ceremony is changing because Dr. Adams wanted to start a new tradition and do something fun with seniors to make the yearbook signing a memorable time for them,” yearbook advisor Rhonda Dempsey said. This year’s yearbook signing takes place on May 20, it will start at non for seniors and 1:50 for juniors and sophomores. The signing will take place under a tent on the track, and will feature many new events.

“The events that will take place this year is a barbeque and the band, The Strive, will play, which is a huge step up from just going to the gym and signing yearbooks,” yearbook Editor in Chief Andie Gilmore said. While the true reason for the change is to give the seniors an event to remember, there are many speculations about the motive of the administration.

“I think the reason for the change is because since the seniors will no longer be students, Dr. Adams no longer wants them roaming the building and creating the chance of them disrupting class that will be in progress,” yearbook Section Editor junior Alanna Raymond said. No matter what popular belief is about the change of the yearbook signing, it is creating more work for those on the yearbook staff.

“As for the yearbook staff, it does not change much but we will have to carry a lot of large boxes from the back of the school to the track,” Gilmore said.

The 2010-2011 school year marked the year of change. New traditions start daily, unless it rains on our parade.
