What was your first job and first car?

My first job was at Ivy’s. My first car was a 77 Camaro.

What’s your favorite thing about being a teacher?

The excitement someone gets when they see something that is difficult.

Favorite memory

I don’t know if I really have a favorite. That’s a tough one. I had one time when there was an emergency situation where I had to save a kid. A guy had his very first seizure in my class, that was memorable because I went to his aid and helped him out.

What was your favorite thing about being a coach?

I coached baseball here for 6 years. And every year I had a good time doing that. Probably just seeing the improvement in a kid in the thing that you’re showing them and practicing over time

What’s the craziest thing that has ever happened in your class?

There have been a couple of fights I’ve had to break up. I broke up a fight between two girls and that was pretty crazy because it didn’t matter that I was in between them they still wanted to go at it. It was over a boy, that was probably the craziest thing that’s happened.

Have you always wanted to be a teacher?

I think I was destined to be a teacher, even when I was a kid I used to play school, which probably sounds really strange. My brother was the one who actually talked me into it. I was in college and he was in high school. I was tutoring him in his algebra 2 class and he just kept telling me over and over that I should be a teacher because I could teach it better than his teachers, so I finally listened to him.

If you could live anywhere in the world where would you live?

My favorite place that I’ve ever been too is Hawaii. It was just nice the week that I went there. I went in 2001. We left the kids at home, so maybe that’s why it was a great vacation.

Where did you go to high school and what is your favorite memory?

I graduated from Oak Park in 1989. My greatest memories are of playing sports my senior year. Playing basketball and baseball with my friends our senior year.

Where did you go to college and what is your favorite memory?

I went to maple woods for one year and then graduated from Missouri western in St. Joe. And the greatest memory from there is meeting my wife, and getting married after that.

How did you and your wife meet?

My car broke down going to a softball game and I stayed the night with a friend. And my wife was his sisters’ best friend, and we met that night.
