How long have you been in Exit 1-6?
I’ve been in Exit 1-6 since my junior year, I tried out at the end of sophomore year and I did my first show with them right before school let out on my Sophomore year.

Do you see everyone in Exit 1-6 as a family?
Oh yeah, Exit 1-6, that’s kind of what it’s all about. Because a lot of people think it’s just about being funny and that’s not it. You have to know how to connect with other people in the group.

Is this your first year doing Ju-Jit-Zu?
I’ve done other martial arts. I did a little bit of kick boxing, little bit of regular boxing, did a little bit of Muay Thai, couple weeks of Tae-kwon-do and I was a wrestler, some people consider that martial arts, some don’t.

How important is Ju-Jit-Zu club for you?
Ju-Jit-Zu club is a pretty high priority but I haven’t been able to do it that much since the musical has started. Last year when it first came around I was super excited for this because Liberty is like the first school ever to have a martial arts club. I was there every single day and made sure I learned every single move that he went through and taught and I’m kind of glad that when he started it this year for school, he just reviewed all the moves we went through this summer. It reassured me that I knew everything we had learned and hadn’t missed out on anything. He’s going to start the club back up in the spring and hopefully we’re going to learn some new moves and I can get my first stripe on my belt – that’ll be fun.

What musicals have you been in?
Tarzan is my first musical because they were talking about it last year and they were like “Hey you should try out for Tarzan because you’re a crazy person!” and I was like, “Yeah I am a crazy person!” I wanted to make sure I could swing on ropes, that’s all I wanted was to swing on ropes and act like an ape. What do you know, now I’m swinging on a rope and acting like an ape!

What is your role in the play?
I am a gorilla actually, my role is as Kerchek’s advisor which means whenever Kerchek is on stage I’ll be out there with him. Just like a regular ape, only slightly stronger.

QUOTE FROM MRS. BERTOLDIE ON AARON:
“Aaron is a very passionate person with whatever he is involved with. He is passionate about Exit 1-6, he is very passionate about Broadcasting when he is working on stories about something that he loves like his AyeJay Dance Friday stories. He works diligently on the things that he is passionate about so it’s good to see that passion and watch him work hard and to have his peers see him work hard on something that he really believes in.”
