Senior, Teryn Deshler can probably be found at the latest indie rock concert in Kansas City. Deshler has been to several concerts and considers it one of her hobbies. “My first concert was when I was in middle school,” Deshler said. “I like being with the crowd and not having to think about anything else [but the music].”
Aside from music, Deshler is a part of the high school soccer team. “I like being with my teammates and meeting the new people [that join].” Over the summer, Deshler met many new faces at some camps that she went to. “I was a counselor at a leadership camp,” Deshler said. “I learned a lot from my kids. I also learned to be more patient.”
As a senior in high school, Deshler said patience is key when it comes to academic success. She said, “Stay on top of your work and don’t be afraid to ask for help.” Deshler’s favorite subject in school is English. “I have always loved to read and write,” Deshler said. “It has always came naturally to me.” When asked if she would want to pursue writing in college, she replied, “I mean I have always wanted to something in publishing. On the other hand, going the medical route has interested me too.” In ten years, Deshler hopes to be married and have a family. Deshler said, “I can’t wait to be a mom.”
