McKenzie Greenwood

McKenzie Greenwood, Reporter

Freshman McKenzie Greenwood has seen the world. Kind of. More like she’s seen the country. Moving from city to city and state to state, Greenwood has had to make a lot of quick adjustments.

“I was born in Hawaii, and then I moved to Denver, then Missouri, Florida, Georgia, Michigan, and now back to Missouri,” Greenwood said. “My dad used to work at Rental Car which moved us everywhere. Now he has a new job so my family is staying in Missouri. My parents wanted to live in one spot for the rest of my high school experience.”

Although Greenwood’s high school experience isn’t a long one yet, she still is enjoying LHS.

“High School has been good so far. I’m still getting lost, though. I’ve learned that you can’t stop in the middle of the hallway; you have to keep going or else you’ll get trampled. It’s already happened a few times,” Greenwood said.

She is also figuring out some common myths about high school are just that-myths.

“I thought that the upperclassmen would be really mean to the freshmen,” Greenwood said. “But so far all of the upperclassmen that I’ve met are really nice.”

Greenwood loves to do many different things outside of school.

“I love to hang out with friends outside of school,” Greenwood said. “I also do theater and that’s fun. I’ve done one outside-of-school show, Beauty and the Beast. I was a napkin and a silly girl.”

When Greenwood is not on stage, she loves to have quiet time by herself.

“I love to read and write. My favorite book is the Miraculous Journey of Edward Twain,” Greenwood said. “I also like to watch YouTube. I watch Super Fruit, which is two of the members of an A Capella group called Pentatonix. They do singing and funny videos.”

Pentatonix isn’t the only band that Greenwood enjoys. She is a big fan of One Direction and got to see them in concert this July.

“I’ve been a fan of One Direction for four years,” Greenwood said. “The concert was amazing. I was pretty far back but I wasn’t complaining because I still got to see them.”

Between joining the Newspaper Staff and planning on doing Theater for LHS, Greenwood’s future at LHS looks very bright.
