Kennedy Allison

Kennedy Allison, A&E Editor

Our very own LHS senior, Kennedy Allison, has a big bright future ahead of her at MU but what has taken her to get to this point in her life? Kennedy has plans to graduate along side one of her stepsisters at the end of this year. Having two stepsisters can be challenging when you are all very close. Due to the change of boundaries Kennedy`s youngest sister goes to Liberty North High School instead of Liberty this year with Kennedy and her other sister as planned.

Having her sister at North isn’t the only way the split of the high schools has affected Kennedy`s life. She was a freshman at the junior high when she received the news that half of her friends would be going to LNHS. At the time it was very hard for her to accept and she would have preferred to go to North with all her friends. Although happy as a senior here at LHS she shared that she is very glad that she stayed at Liberty.

Kennedy now has adjusted to the change and told me, ”Now I have to cheer for North. I`m not so happy about that but I`ll get used to it.”

Kennedy is not only a good older sister but also a hard worker. At the moment she is working two jobs.  She’s employed at Red Robin and Jimmy Johns but her hard work carries over into the classroom as she works hard to graduate and fulfill her plans for college. Kennedy would like to go to Mizzou to get into the journalism program and maybe do some Ads marketing. She claims it to be something that just seems fun to her.

Oddly enough, before freshman year of high school, anything to do with writing seemed far from fun. Kennedy loathed the subject so much she begged her mom to let her drop the classes. With her mother’s refusal all hope of getting away from this subject was gone until she had a teacher that changed her life. It was at South Valley Middle School Kennedy found her way in the writing world. With the help of teachers she improved her writing skills and found a place in her heart for writing which now is something Kennedy plans to do in the future. Now as a senior, ready to take on her major, she looks back wishing she did newspaper and writing sooner.

Kennedy isn’t just a personality on paper she has a diverse group of friends to fit her outgoing personality. When asked what clique or group she fell in place with she couldn’t pick one. I then asked her if there were any cliques or groups at the school in general to which she replied, ”There are cliques at our school but I`m not in any of them.”

Her ability to make friends with anyone makes her a hard person to pin point to any particular group. She has friends that are in cheer and softball all the way to the smartest kid in class.

Now Kennedy has her perks as a senior but she is more excited to start something new after graduation. Her excitement doesn’t end there as she told me about her plans after college when approached by a simple question. After college would you like to look to settle down quickly or have some free time for just you? Kennedy says she will move to Arizona right after college just like her mother did. Not only for a good job but to be with the family she has out under the desert sun.

”I would like to sit by the pool all day and try to catch a nice tall bronze man that I can eventually settle down with,” Kennedy said, “but I`m not looking for that anytime soon.”

Looking to the future, Kennedy has left the underclassmen a bit of advise for high school. She claims that early in high school she slacked off leaving her with grades that have come back to bite her in the butt. In all, Kennedy told me that you just have to try your hardest and not to procrastinate. Kennedy still has her senior year of high school ahead of her but a bigger and brighter future on the horizon.
