Senior Sarah Blankenship, Editor-in-Chief, Opinion Editor

Senior Sarah Blankenship has big plans for her year as Editor-in-Chief, but also enjoys looking back on everything that brought her to this point in her life.

"I joined staff because I've always had a love for journalism, it kind of runs in my family," Blankenship said. "My dad was an editor and my stepmom is a graphic designer, so it kind of was just meant to be. I also love writing and I've always loved creative writing, but I kind of strayed away from that. I love news reporting and I love making sure everybody has a credible resource to get reliable news from."

Her dad has shaped many things in her life, and Blankenship calls him her biggest inspiration.

"He's always been the person who motivates me to do my best, and he was also the person that inspired me to get into journalism and writing," Blankenship said. "He's always my number one supporter, and I hope I grow up to be just like him."

She also loves journalism because it allows her to communicate with her school and make sure everyone stays educated.

"It's important to make sure that our school and our students have the opportunity to learn about their school and know what's going on," Blankenship said. "Any new students, or what the student body's involved with, sports, and all that stuff."

She joined staff her sophomore year as a reporter, then continued on to become the Features and Co-Sports Section Editors, as well as Copy Editor, her junior year; all leading up to what she calls one of her biggest accomplishments: being selected for Editor-in-Chief.

"That was probably one of my proudest moments, making EIC," Blankenship said.

But while she loves being on staff, she's equally as excited to see where the legacy of The Bell takes them in the future.

"I love Newspaper so much and I hope that all of our traditions and parties and all the fun times we have carries on after we leave," Blankenship said.
