Senior Lucas Kilgore, Spotlight and Sports Editor

Senior Lucas Kilgore is entering his third year of Newspaper, this year as the Sports Section Editor, the Spotlight Section Editor and the Social Chairperson, with no specific goals for his last year of high school.

“It’s my senior year so I’m really just trying to enjoy my senior year and not stress too much,” Kilgore said. “I’m taking some challenging classes, but It’s more of just enjoying my last year of high school and having a good time.”

Some of Kilgore’s hobbies include playing video games, hanging out with his dogs, hanging out with friends and playing rugby for the school. He also likes messing with his car, learning more about cars and going on drives.

He cites his interest in joining Newspaper from the thought that it sounded fun and was another thing to get involved in. Newspaper has helped him become better at interviewing and being able to extract information from conversations. He also believes Newspaper has made him a better writer in more untraditional writing styles.

After high school, Kilgore has no specific idea of what he wants to do. “Part of me wants to go into journalism because that’s something I really enjoy, but I don’t want to put myself in debt until I’m 40,” Kilgore said. “But if not, I have looked into tech school. I really like working on cars and stuff, it’d be something I’d enjoy.”

Overall, Kilgore’s favorite thing about Newspaper, isn’t Newspaper itself, but the people and friends he’s met along the way.

“When you craft something together it brings you really close and so my favorite thing is the connections you make with people, the friends you make, and the fun you have,” Kilgore explained.

Despite it being his last year in high school, Kilgore will try to make it his best year, whether playing rugby, hanging out with friends or writing for the paper.
