Freshman Jenna Shores, Reporter

Freshman Jenna Shores, having no experience in newspapers, decided to join the newspaper for her love of writing and curiosity to further her learning. She was inspired by the challenge of something new and would like to inspire others with what she writes.

“Newspaper will help me to become a better writer.”

Shores is eager to become involved in high school and focus on her education.

“Newspaper seemed fun to write about other peoples lives that included information.”

Although she’d like to focus on her grades she also is compassionate about other activities and hobbies. Shores is involved in color guard for her school and was involved in Middle Jays, the middle school color guard team.

“This is my first high school season. I did middle jay which is just middle school and now I'm on varsity.”

She enjoys traveling and baking as well.

“I love traveling, I really do. This summer I went to Mexico and Cancun with my family.”

Shores said she enjoys traveling and hopes to travel more.

“I went to the Dominican Republic, but I really want to go to the UK and europe.”

Shores is inspired by Katherine Pierce, a former scientist at NASA.

“She was historical, in the time of segregation she was a black woman that was really good at math.”

She hopes to someday pursue her dream and become a scientist for NASA.

“I basically want to do what she did, I want to be a woman working at NASA and a scientist.” Shores is ready to start her new journey in newspaper and high school and grow from her experiences this year.
